Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church is a great place to be. We are a warm & welcoming congregation that is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Our mission is to bring Christ to all of God’s children.
This focus of the congregation is not just outward but inward. Inward in the sense that the congregation seeks continued spiritual growth – growth in our understanding of God’s word, the foundations of our faith, of His will for us and how we can be examples of a faith that is alive in our daily living at home, work and school.
Calvary has a vibrant worship life. Sunday School and a contemporary worship service are on Sundays at 9AM, followed by an all congregation fellowship time (featuring coffee & pastries), then our traditional worship service at 11:00AM.
We have a wonderful facility with an educational wing (7 classrooms with an additional 3 rooms downstairs) completed in 2007. All of our classrooms are occupied each Sunday.
Our facilities are used by community groups during the week for meetings, Cub Scout meetings, and karate classes. Glenwood Academy uses the church’s classroom facilities during the week.
Worship and Christian education is not just on Sundays at Calvary. Throughout the year there are evening programs for confirmation (called Wednesdays at Calvary), youth activities and adult education. We have an outdoor worship area for holding services in the summer. During Lent, we have a soup supper and program for study or discussion of social issues followed by a worshipful service of prayer and meditation. The fall initiates the Sunday school year that raises both the excitement and the volume. We hold mid-week Advent services that end with four services on Christmas Eve.
